On July 28, Google announced that their "Made by Google" event is set for August 13, where they will unveil the Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, Pixel 9 Pro XL, and Pixel 9 Pro Fold. Anticipation is building as Google has already started releasing promotional material for the Pixel 9 Pro.
Recently, a Ukrainian YouTuber got their hands on a Pixel 9 Pro XL prototype and shared an in-depth 20-minute hands-on video. Although the device couldn't be powered on, the video provides significant insights into its design.
One of the most noticeable changes in the Pixel 9 Pro XL is its rounded corners, contrasting sharply with the straight edges of the previous Pixel 6 Pro. The new model also features a flat frame similar to the iPhone, replacing the curved screen design of its predecessor. The overall look of the Pixel 9 Pro XL has been likened to the iPhone 15 Pro Max, though the rear camera module is distinctly different.
The video also confirms that the Pixel 9 Pro XL will continue to include a temperature sensor. Its frame is symmetrical on all four sides and notably thinner than that of the iPhone 15 Pro Max. Compared to the Pixel 8 Pro, the rear camera module of the new model is shorter. The video also compares the Pixel 9 Pro XL with other flagship models like the iPhone 15 Pro Max and Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra.
Leaked specifications reveal that the Pixel 9 Pro XL will sport a 6.8-inch OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and a resolution of 1344 x 2992 pixels. It will be powered by the 4nm Tensor G4 chip and come with up to 16GB of RAM. The rear camera setup includes a 50MP main camera, a 48MP ultra-wide camera, and a 48MP telephoto lens, while the front camera boasts a 42MP sensor.
